Level of Commitment High
Time Commitment 30 – 60 minutes each week
Mentoring is one of the most impactful opportunities we have to offer students and to volunteers. This is the opportunity for a caring adult to have an authentic relationship with a child. All CIS Mentoring takes place at school, during school hours under the supervision of the CIS Site Coordinators. Mentors are asked to complete an application, attend training and receive on-going support from the Site Coordinators throughout their match. Mentors are matched to a student in grades K-12 based on which grade level the mentor chooses and which grade level’s schedule is most convenient.
Tutoring – working one-on-one and with small groups
Level of Commitment Moderate
Time Commitment 30 - 60 minutes each week
We have multiple opportunities for volunteers that wish to work individually or in small groups with students on academic subjects. There are times within the school day as well as after-school .
Career Speakers - Job Readiness Skills Education
Level of Commitment Low to Moderate
Time Commitment can be a single classroom visit or a series of visits
We are interested in exposing our students to multiple careers and to the skills that are necessary for success in a career (interviewing skills, problem solving skills, customer service).
Additional ways to volunteer
For more information… please call the Communities In Schools of Chesterfield Office @ 717-9305
All Chesterfield County Public Schools require that volunteers enter the building by the office and all volunteers are required to present their license on their first visit. By doing so, all visitors are run through a computer system that insures the safety of our students.
