Communities In and OUT of Schools!

On July 20th Chesterfield County’s School Board voted to have students continue learning virtually in the fall of the 2020-2021 school year. While our team would love to be back in the schools with our students, we know that the health and safety of our students, families, and school staff is so incredibly important. However, equally important is the wellbeing and continued education of our students. CIS of Chesterfield is committed to being there every step of the way! Through scenario planning and working closely with Chesterfield County Public Schools, our team is mapping out our ongoing support of our students and families so they have what they need to remain focused on education and thrive in the new school year.

Because our model is designed to deliver our programming from within the schools, we are being very intentional about strategically planning the delivery of our supports in new ways, given the continuation of virtual learning this fall. Though we’ll be virtual, we will still be focusing on and delivering support and interventions connected to: academic support, behavioral and mental health, mentoring, family engagement, case management, building diversity and inclusion, We are working with our schools and families to ensure everyone has the technology and support to make the school year a successful one.

We are working closely with CCPS, so that our planning is aligned with the school system’s decisions around virtual learning this fall. We’ll look forward to sharing how we will adapt to this ever-evolving situation!
