WELCOME MENTORS!

At Communities In Schools of Chesterfield, we believe that every child needs and deserves a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. Across our nine school sites, we have hundreds of mentors working to help us fill this need for our students!

This page is available to all of our CIS of Chesterfield mentors as a resource for navigating the mentoring relationship. It is our hope that all of our mentors are set up for success in their matches. In addition to the training received at on-site orientation, mentors can find resources on this page about initiating a mentoring relationship, activity guides, CCPS policies, and more.

CIS of Chesterfield also has a full-time Mentor Coordinator dedicated to all things mentor-related! You can email [email protected] with any questions, concerns or requests for additional resources.

CIS of Chesterfield Mentor Handbook

This handbook is an excellent tool for both new and seasoned mentors. It covers everything from defining the role of a mentor, to learning about how trauma affects youth development.

While the content in the handbook is comprehensive, we hope that the introduction to these topics will inspire further research! Reach out to the Mentor Coordinator to learn more about any of the discussed topics.

Mentor Training Video Series

To accompany the Mentor Handbook, the CIS of Chesterfield Mentor Coordinator has created a four-part mentor training video series that offers guidance for both new and returning mentors. Covering topics like effective communication, and the role of a mentor, this video series should boost your confidence as a mentor and improve the quality of your mentoring relationships.
