General Description
The Communities in Schools (CIS) Development and Communications Coordinator will support our fundraising and communications. In this role, the Coordinator will work with and report to the Director of Development & Communications to advance the organization’s fund development, marketing campaigns, and donor cultivation and retention efforts. As part of the Communities In Schools of Chesterfield team, you will be joining a group of passionate, hardworking, and mission-driven individuals. Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive annual communications plan
  • Organizes, catalogs, and maintains media coverage, media archives, and photo library
  • Produces content for social media platforms. Schedules posts to ensure consistent and timely communication, and tracks analytics to improve engagement.
  • Designs and sends monthly eNewsletter to stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, upcoming events, and relevant information.
  • Identifies grant opportunities aligned with organizational goals, Prepares and submits grant proposals as needed.
  • Updates and maintains website content with current news, events, and other relevant information.
  • Assists with coordinating logistics, marketing, and volunteer support for organizational fundraising events
  • Supports the execution of development and communications related meetings
  • Supports the Director of Development & Communications with donor cultivation, implementing stewardship strategies, and monitoring retention rates to develop long-term engagement strategies.
  • Designs communications collateral, such as brochures, flyers, and presentations
  • Ensures donor records are current, and prepares and sends acknowledgements to donors
  • Perform regular database maintenance and clean-up to ensure data integrity and accessibility
  • Takes meeting minutes for development and communication related meetings
  • Participates in donor prospecting to solicit new funding opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Report Preparation:
Prepares various reports as requested. Prepares and submits grant proposals as needed.

Equipment Operation:
Regular use of standard office equipment, to include computers, copiers, etc.

Contacts:
Frequent contacts within the organization as well as external contacts, to include donors

Decision Making:
Performs work under the direction of the CIS Coordinator within the policy boundaries and established objectives and interprets policy on own initiative as necessary.

Qualifications
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with donors, community representatives, schools, students, families, and the general public.. Proficiency in Microsoft & Google applications, a donor database management system such as Network For Good, Canva, and WordPress website management. Experience with social media campaign development, crafting newsletters, and artistic/creative interests. Highly organized, with strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills, with a keen attention to detail. Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills, with sensitivity to the nature of work performed.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and 3 – 5 years experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience. Prior experience with donor database systems is preferred.

General Description
The Communities In Schools of Chesterfield (CIS-C) Program Manager supervises school-based CIS Site Coordinators, and is responsible for the oversight and fidelity to the Integrated Student Supports model.

Essential Job Functions

Program Oversight and Management:

  • Supervises, leads, and develops CIS Site Coordinators in the implementation of the CIS Integrated Student Support model. This includes: Tier 1 School-wide interventions, Tier 2 Small-Group supports, and Tier 3 Case-management.
  • Supports the completion of the Annual Needs Assessment process at each school-based site. This process will include surveys and sources of data collected from schools as part of school improvement initiatives.
  • Guides assigned Site Coordinators in the development and implementation of the School Support Plan. This plan includes targeted goals, measurable objectives, and program oversight.
  • Ensure site compliance with CIS National Accreditation Standards
  • Checks in with school leadership a minimum of two times per year (or as needed) to monitor satisfaction with site plan and staff. Checks in with CIS’s Director of Program Operations weekly to ensure school-based supports and programing is aligned and consistent.
  • Works alongside the school Site Coordinators to identify and incorporate various community resources that best meet the needs of the school site and its students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Administrative Role:

  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings with partners, school staff, the CIS team, and other resource agencies involved in collaborative services, when appropriate.
  • Connects feeder pattern sites to ensure a system-wide collaborative approach to student interventions.
  • Supports CIS Site Coordinators in managing purchases and their site budgets.
  • Identifies and incorporates local and national best practices that enhance delivery of the CIS model.
  • Conducts regular on-site visits throughout the year to provide support and supervision to school-based staff.
  • Ensures the programs and services offered at sites meet or exceed expectations.
  • Conducts CIS Site Coordinator performance reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Evaluation, Documentation, & Reporting:

  • Evaluates the implementation of best practices at each school site through observation and data collection.
  • Reviews progress monthly to ensure the effectiveness of services as measured by achievement of school and student individualized goals.
  • Ensures accurate and current data is reported in CISDM for the purposes of ongoing site evaluation and accreditation.
  • Ensures compliance with grant reporting requirements as appropriate.
  • Provides program highlights, accomplishments, and challenges to affiliate leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Budgetary Responsibility:

  • Reviews site budgets monthly with CIS Site Coordinators.

CIS Site Coordinator Job Description
General Description: Coordinate the Communities In Schools (CIS) of Chesterfield program at the elementary school level including planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of resources and services. The employee will implement the integrated student support model by connecting student and school needs to community partners and resources within and outside of the school system.

Essential Job Functions:

Lead the annual school needs assessment process. This will be based on data collected by school districts and schools as part of the overall school improvement initiative; surveys and discussions with staff, families, and students; and evaluation results from the previous year.

  • Lead the development and implementation of the CIS Site Plan. The plan will include measurable objectives, as well as procedures for delivering school wide services, targeted and sustained services, monitoring and adjusting services, and evaluating and reporting effectiveness to CIS and school leadership.

  • Design and implement a model elementary school CIS program to deliver evidence-based services focused on academics, behavior, and attendance.

  • Case manages students through targeted and sustained services that will be coordinated and provided at the school site and/or virtually through home visits for specific students for specific students who are identified as those in the most need of services.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of achieving school-wide and student individualized goals by collection and analysis of data.

  • Provide timely data as required to CIS Administrator, CIS Program Manager, CIS Board of Directors, and CIS state and national offices.

  • Recruit, train, and coordinate community volunteers to support identified student and school needs.

  • Secure and connect resources to support identified student and school needs.

  • Maintain a positive CIS image inside and outside the school. Understand, demonstrate, and communicate the mission and goals of CIS.

  • Establish and maintain a positive and productive relationship with both school and CIS staff.

  • Attend CIS local, state, and national meetings and trainings as appropriate. Demonstrate commitment to improving professional competence.

Work Direction/Supervision: CIS Administrator, CIS Program Manager, and School Principal.

Decision Making: Frequent independent decision-making, with support of the CIS Administrator and Program Manager.

Physical Demands: Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal indoor levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead. Frequent movement throughout the school facilities is required.

Work Environment: Duties performed typically in school settings to include: CIS office, classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Occasional exposure to potentially infectious diseases and bloodborne pathogens is necessary.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Working knowledge of best practices with at-risk students, low-income communities, and alternative education. Demonstrated ability to develop and support individualized goals for students. Experience in planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of resources and services. Prior experience working with families and schools with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, and ability to effectively communicate in Spanish are strongly preferred.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in education, school counseling, social work, or a related field. Valid VA Driver’s License. This position requires the incumbent to drive.
