Summer With CIS
Research has long told us that children can experience significant learning loss over long summer breaks – this is often referred to as “summer slide.” Not only is there risk of learning loss but at-risk students, like those we serve at CIS, may also experience other challenges while out of school. For these students, school might be the only place where they receive essential needs and support like food and mental health interventions.
For those reasons, CIS of Chesterfield is providing programming, support, and engagement this summer! This will include:
ongoing check-in calls from Site Coordinators
continued delivery of weekly groceries and supplies for families in crisis

mail-home distributions of books and other enrichment activities
continuation of our Pen Pal program
at least one socially safe, outdoor CIS Summer Squad community event to bring our students and families together. Stay tuned for more information about this even!
