Go-to school snack: I love all the fruits (and Combos)

My favorite part of the school day: I love seeing the kids come to school in the morning! Standing in my doorway getting ALL the hugs, fist bumps and “guess what Mrs. Gordy” make my day!

A student moment that always makes me smile: I support a group of fifth grade boys- we check in every day and once a week they bring their chromebooks and we check grades. The time spent talking through “their stuff”, chatting about what they want for their future, how to manage “practicing math and sports” and how you can’t have one without the other always makes me smile.

What “showing up” means to me: I think the most important piece of “showing up” is listening with the purpose of hearing what is being said. Kids share so much when adults are “present” and engage just by listening and affirming what they are feeling.

One thing I hope every student knows: You have so much power already in you to be everything you want to be. The choices you make either take you towards your dreams or steer you away from them. Setbacks are opportunities to learn something new. I love you and I believe in you!
