Go-to school snack: Mine is crunchy cheetos!
My favorite part of the school day: LEAD and Learn when we have our mentoring groups and our coding after school group! I love seeing my students be able to grow, to share and have a positive interaction with peers and other adults.
A student moment that always makes me smile: My students always make me smile when they come and give me a hug in the morning, at lunch or during mentoring groups! I love hearing them share their dreams and their goals! They just make me smile all the time!
What “showing up” means to me: Showing up means so many different things depending on the student and the student needs. For some students, it is coming to school because, have been chronically absent for years and now they are missing less time, or it means just making a decision to come and see me because they are feeling overwhelmed, sad or mad and instead of acting on impulse, they are putting a gap to come and see me and work through their feelings. Lastly, some students have had such a difficult night, that they show up to feel safe, to have food and to feel that someone is listening and cares.
One thing I hope every student knows: One thing that I hope that every student knows is that they have enormous potential and talent and that there are people who want to help them achieve their dreams and goals.
