Go-to school snack: BBQ chips

My favorite part of the school day: I really enjoy the time of day when small groups meet, whether it’s Grief Group, Sources of Strength, Embrace, or the Kindness Club. These groups provide an opportunity to connect with students on a deeper level, rather than just checking in about their attendance or grades. They also create a space where students can open up, share their experiences, and express themselves in a supportive environment.

A student moment that always makes me smile: Normally, I’m the one checking in on
students to see how they’re doing. So, it really means a lot when a student goes out of their way to stop by my office just to ask how I’m doing or to check in on me. Their kindness and thoughtfulness make those moments especially meaningful.

What “showing up” means to me: Being a safe, consistent presence for students and creating a space where they feel comfortable being authentic – whether they are having a great day or carrying something heavy. It also means supporting them in whatever way they need in the moment: listening, guiding, celebrating their successes, offering tough love when needed, and taking the time to truly see them as individuals beyond the classroom.

One thing I hope every student knows: I want every student to know they are seen and valued, and that their current circumstances do not define them. With hard work and determination, they have the power to shape their own future and change the narrative of their life.
